Exterior Checklist

Before your Exterior project commences review the General Guidelines below, and then complete the Exterior Checklist Form. If you have any additional questions about the specifics of your project contact your original estimator.

General Guidelines for Exterior Painting

  1. Decide if Manor Works will have access to the house during the entire project. No one needs to be home during the project, but you are welcome to do so if you choose. Keep in mind that Manor Works will need access to the house to paint windows and doors. Dry time can vary based on product and time of the year, and could be as long as 8 hours. You can either be at home during the project, or leave a key with the Senior Painter (see below).
  2. If Manor Works will not have access to the house during the entire project, decide when areas like windows and doors will be completed. Manor Works can usually follow your schedule. If you want all the doors done the first day of the project (since you will be home that day), just let your Senior Painter know this. Keep in mind that windows and doors will need to be open for painting. Dry time can vary based on product and time of the year, and could be as long as 8 hours.
  3. Remove any personal belongings (patio furniture, hanging plants, etc.) from the areas to be painted. Please remove any items that might be in the way of painting. If you need help moving something, notify your Senior Painter the first day on the project.
  4. Make sure water is turned on to your outside hose. Manor Works will need water for power washing and/or cleaning equipment.
  5. Trim bushes and shrubs as necessary. Manor Works employees will need to stand or set up a ladder in front of every window on your house. If bushes are overgrown, please trim them back to the point where a person can get behind them.
  6. Be prepared to clean your windows after the project is complete. Manor Works will scrape any excess paint off window panes. Power washing, however, will leave streaks/film on storm windows. Also, the handling of windows during preparation and painting will leave fingerprints, etc. You should wait 30 days before scrubbing any painted surface to allow the paint time to cure.
